This is a stop motion animation we created for the Framingham Public Works Department.
The Framingham Public Works had two problems. First, they needed to communicate why their trucks were out in mass during the spring. Community members were curious why so much work was necessary. Second, they needed to communicate with their neighbours how they could help keep the stormwater drains clear.
They came to us and asked us if we could help. We’ve long known that animation is the best way to communicate complicated messaging to ages across the board. We pitched creating a stop motion animation to help them get their message to the people of Framingham.
We hand-built the “paper city” replica of downtown Framingham, including paper cars. Then, we created paper swans and painted drone. While our production team was hard at work creating art, our writers wrote the script. Once the script was approved, we began filming. Stop motion animation is a lot of fun and a lot of hard work. We enjoyed every minute of this video’s production!
The video not only brought home the Bronze in the 2017 Telly Awards. It also won several Public Works awards and succeeded in communicating to the public.
